Question…

Michele Bachmann

Michele Bachmann: Tendons flexed, about to catch a falling building (photo from TPM)

Who actually thinks that Rep. Michele “you ‘da man” Bachmann (R-Minnesota), of “We’re running out of rich people in this country” fame, raises more money for the Republicans, than she does inadvertantly for the Democrats?

From today’s Washington Times (via Drudge), Bachmann on the census:

In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times “America’s Morning News,” Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become “very intricate, very personal” and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau’s door-to-door information collection efforts.

“I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

What exactly does she expect ACORN to do to her? Be community minded close to her?

I hope she does get fined $5,000 (the penalty the actual law specifies for people who refuse to answer “any of the questions” on the census, as reported in the same Washington Times article).

She exists in a world of strange imaginary insinuations that make her sound like a crazy person. And, because crazy people are generally considered **awesome** on cable, she’s ascended to the ranks of the most recognizeable Congressional Republicans.

This is really snarky, but I can’t resist: Best Michele Bachmann quotes (collected by HuffPo):

BACHMANN (noted slavery historian): Slavery is what we are looking at right now with the debt burden that we are seeing from the Obama administration … That is involuntary servitude when a person has to work three-quarters of the year just to pay their tax bill, and that is what we are looking at down the road for our kids and grandkids.

…which presumably prompted all people with ancestors who were actual slaves to give half of their money to the Democrats.

BACHMANN: They look at this administration, and in the name of economic stimulus, they saw that this current liberal administration has legislation that is overflowing with wasteful government spending. And they might have heard about one of these wasteful projects. It is a brand new, billion-dollar high speed train that is going to go from Disneyland up to Las Vegas. A billion dollars of a widow’s money to go to pay for a brand new ride essentially from Disneyland to Las Vegas. Harry Reid, the Senator from Nevada, was behind this measure, and it makes us wonder, is he more interested in making sure kids start gambling at younger ages?

…which presumably prompted Nevada to give half of its money to the Democrats.
