Tied to the mast
…but orange now and black

Cyber Security ctd.

And the world continues to turn:

Military experts said Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics, which have long been major players in the Pentagon’s security efforts, are leading the push into offensive cyberwarfare, along with the Raytheon unit. This involves finding vulnerabilities in other countries’ computer systems and developing software tools to exploit them, either to steal sensitive information or disable the networks.

Again, it’s not that I don’t see the necessity of security, but I really hope there are some serious discussions happening as to what kind of oversight, and what kind of authority is needed to exercise these new muscles. The cloak of anonymity–which is so easily worn on the Internet–as far as the government of any democracy is concerned, ought not to be able to be lightly thrown on.
